The Sanctuary of Truth

A Unique Architectural and Spiritual Work

The Sanctuary of Truth is a monumental wooden structure located in Pattaya, Thailand. Initiated in 1981 by Thai businessman Lek Viriyaphant, this project aims to promote Eastern philosophy and culture through art and architecture. Constructed entirely of teak without the use of nails, the sanctuary is a fusion of Khmer, Siamese, Indian, and Chinese architectural styles.

Architecture Filled with Symbolism

Every detail of the sanctuary is rich in symbolism. The four main entrances represent Buddhist and Hindu religions and mythologies, with detailed carvings of deities such as Vishnu, Shiva, and Brahma.

Inside, wooden sculptures illustrate profound philosophical concepts related to the universe, life, death, and the unity between man and the cosmos. Visitors can also observe representations of the seven creators of the Earth according to Hindu beliefs: the sky, the earth, the father, the mother, the moon, the sun, and the stars.

An Enriching Visit Experience

Upon arrival, an entrance fee of 500 THB is required.

For those not wearing appropriate clothing, shorts are available for free rental.

Guided tours are offered in several languages, including English, and begin at specific times indicated on your ticket. It is recommended to arrive at least three hours before closing time to fully enjoy the experience.

The route begins with a descent through a picturesque forest, followed by the distribution of safety helmets.

Visitors first discover the workshops where artisans carve wood, then a detailed model of the sanctuary. The guide then explains the traditional construction techniques used, including assembly without nails or screws.

In the surrounding park, various activities are offered, such as boat rides on a pond, encounters with elephants, gourmet breaks at the snack bar and a mini-farm.

Inside the sanctuary, the guide details the different rooms and the figures represented, offering an insight into the spiritual myths and legends of Asia.

At the end of the tour, visitors are given a document explaining the missions of humanity and the steps to achieve world peace.

• Fees: 500 THB for adults; discounts are available for children and online booking.
• Cultural Performances: Performances are held daily at 11:30 AM and 3:30 PM.
• Dress Code: Modest attire is required; appropriate clothing can be borrowed on site.
• Access: The shrine is located in North Pattaya, in the Naklua district. Local transportation services such as tuk-tuks and songthaews are available.
